We were asked to create a
website that
would allow people to 'name and shame'
dangerous drivers
by spelling our their number plate and describing the
incident that prompted the report.
For several years, betterdrivingplease
was discussed widely in all media. The BBC News showed our
interactive traffic light (click on the red light for 'extremely dangerous' drivers)
and Jeremy Clarkson wrote a furious article in the Sunday Times (dubbing it 'Shop-a-Driver.com').
As a result, thousands signed up and many reports were submitted
and discussed throught the 'Comment on this report' system we put in place.
The BetterDrivingPlease campaign website closed its doors in July 2009
after a three-year campaign that
produced more than 25,000 reports.
Although Web & Flow
was asked to develop
the BetterDrivingPlease community website,
we didn't 'run' (monitor) the website and it certainly
wasn't Web & Flow putting a sign on Jeremy's drive! Whatever your opinion, please don't shoot the messenger.
